Welcome to 15th Iczegar

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is a great honour for us to invite any professional or student who shares our mutual interest in Zoology to the 15th International Congress on the Zoogeography and Ecology of Greece and Adjacent Regions to be held in Mytilini, on the island of Lesvos, Greece, from 12 to 15 October 2022.

The scope of the congress includes all issues related to the systematics, phylogeny, biogeography, ecology, evolution, and conservation of animal species in the south-east European and eastern Mediterranean region. Research concerning all aspects of animal biodiversity (terrestrial, subterranean, freshwater and marine) within a geographical region that includes the Balkan and Italian peninsulas, Anatolia, as well as the Near East and the Mediterranean coasts of north-eastern Africa are welcome.

The official language of the 15th ICZEGAR will be English.

Experience gained from previous meetings of this series during the last 45 years has shown that the ICZEGAR can become an important forum for contact and information exchange between scientists working on a wide range of subjects in a region with very high biodiversity. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and collaborate on many basic and applied research subjects, such as conservation biology, biogeography, fisheries, population ecology, phylogenetics, phylogeography etc.

A new feature of the 15th ICZEGAR will be the ability of pariticipants and of speakers to attend online. Due to the unavoidable, even if low, risk of changes that may be necessary due to the ongoing pandemic of COVID 19, arrangements for online attendance provide a safeguard. However, for obvious reasons, physical presence at the venue is much preferable and strongly recommended. Either way you may decide to attend, it will give us great pleasure to welcome you in Mytilini.
